Tequila’s culinary journey began in her childhood kitchen, inspired by her grandmother, Nell Marie Wilson, a woman whose cooking was as memorable as her love. Those early moments of watching, tasting, and learning laid the foundation for Tequila’s belief that food is not just nourishment—it is connection, heritage, and celebration. In honor of that legacy, Inherited Flavor was born.

Tequila is proudly a 2025 graduate of the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado, where she earned her diploma in Culinary Arts and became a certified chef. This achievement embodies her commitment to growth, mastery, and the continual pursuit of elevating her craft.

At the heart of Inherited Flavor stands one extraordinary woman—Nell Marie Wilson, the culinary matriarch whose love, skill, and spirit continue to guide every dish Tequila creates. To know Nell Marie was to know warmth, generosity, and the kind of cooking that gathered people, uplifted communities, and turned ordinary moments into lasting memories.
As a little girl, Tequila spent countless hours at her grandmother’s side—watching her season with intention, cook with passion, and serve with joy. Nell Marie wasn’t just preparing meals; she was ministering through food. Whether feeding neighbors, church members, travelers passing through, or family from across the country, her kitchen was a place where everyone felt seen, welcomed, and loved.
Alongside her husband, Floyd Wilson Sr., she co-owned Wilson’s BBQ, a beloved establishment known for its legendary flavors and mouthwatering barbecue. The two of them became widely celebrated for their pit-master skills, hospitality, and the unmistakable taste that made Wilson’s BBQ a cherished part of the community’s story. Their work built a legacy—one rooted in excellence, consistency, and heart—that continues to inspire generations.
When Nell Marie passed away in 2001, her hands may have rested, but her influence did not. In the quiet of that grief, something powerful was planted. Tequila believes her grandmother spiritually passed the torch to her—igniting the passion, purpose, and calling that would one day grow into Inherited Flavor Catering.
